Pack 100 Trailer

Last night we found out that our red trailer was stolen from the parking lot at the church.  Thieves cut off the locks and towed it away.  In addition, the Boy Scout Troop’s trailer was also broken into and some gear was stolen.  We believe this happened over Labor Day weekend.
We called Scottsdale PD and they came out to open a report and gather evidence.  If you any information about this, please contact me directly.
Pack Leadership is taking the following actions:
  • We are working with the church to review our insurance coverage and file a claim if possible.
  • We are creating an inventory list to document what was lost and what will be needed to continue conducting successful outings.
  • We are working with the Grand Canyon BSA council to determine our options for soliciting and receiving donations including any online donation sites.
  • We are looking to approach local media to publicize the loss and let the public know how they can help.  If you have suggestions, please contact me directly.
The trailer contained most of the camping and cooking equipment we use for outings along with ceremony items including flags, etc.  The theft represents a significant material loss for the Pack.  The equipment was purchased through the fundraising efforts of the scouts themselves or donated over the course of many years and will not be cheap or easy to replace.

Pack Leaders are looking at additional ways to raise funds and there are many ways you can help.
  • Continue working hard on our current Popcorn fundraiser.  This program has been a big success and will help us recover if we all pitch in.  If you have questions about the Popcorn fundraiser, contact Leslie.
  • Help us recruit more Tiger and Wolf scouts. If you know any boys 1st or 2nd grade boys, please talk to them and their parents about Pack100.  New scouts are literally the future of our Pack and more new scouts make us stronger.  If you have any questions about recruiting, contact Keri Cavanaugh.
  • Get ready for our next fundraiser, Wreath Sales.  We will provide more information in the coming weeks about the program.
  • Take one of the open Volunteer Positions.  Pack100 is completely run by parent volunteers and it functions best when everyone pitches in.  There are plenty of ways to help.  Please look at the list of open positions and find a way to help.  If you have questions, please contact Leslie.
  • Stay tuned for more information.  Pack Leaders will assess what we need and put together a plan to replace the most critical gear. We will keep everyone up to date on additional fundraisers as opportunities come up.  If you have any suggestions, please contact me directly.
Despite this loss, we still have a job to do as leaders, parents and scouts.  The Cub Scout Motto is “Do your best!” and that is exactly what we will do.
  • Den Leaders will continue to conduct fun and informative meetings for the boys.
  • The scouts will continue to work hard on their achievements and move closer to Boy Scouts.
  • We will continue to have monthly outings at interesting places.
